Cecilia Menjívar is Foundation Distinguished Professor in the Department of Sociology and Co-Director of the Center for Migration Research at the University of Kansas. Her research has focused on the effects of the U.S. legal framework on the lives of Central American immigrants in the U.S., and on the structural and institutional bases of gender-based violence in the three northern countries of Central America.
