Stephan Treuke Treuke_LARR Stephan Treuke was awarded a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics and Geography by the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences, awarded by the Federal University of Bahia, Salvador, Brazil. In 2018, Stephan Treuke was a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is currently working as a Project Manager at the Emschergenossenschaft and Lippe Verein, Essen, Germany, dealing with urban planning, water management and global warming related environmental changes. His main research fields are: urban poverty, segregation, neighborhood effects, crime and its implications for urban policies.

Turid Hagene Turid Hagene Professor emeritus Turid Hagene, born 1945, has worked with Development Studies at Oslo and Akershus University College, Norway, since 1994. She has done research in Nicaragua and Mexico, exploring issues of love and gender, international cooperation, democracy and participation, elections, and political clientelism. She holds a PhD in Contemporary History, emphasizing ethnographic methods. She has recently published in Latin American Politics and Society, Nueva Antropología, European Review of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Political Geography. She has published two books (2008).

Uwe Imre Serdült uweserdult Uwe Serdült is vice-director at the Centre for Research on Direct Democracy (c2d) and works there as a principle investigator and lecturer. Before coming to Aarau he taught and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Universities of Zurich and Geneva respectively. Research stays lead him to Poland (PU Cracow), Japan (Waseda and Ritsumeikan University) and the USA (University of Pittsburgh, PA). He studied History, Political Science and Computer Science at the Universities of Zurich and Geneva. Currently, his main research interest is on digital politics, especially internet voting.

Alberto Vergara VERGARA_LARR Alberto Vergara es profesor e investigador de la Universidad del Pacifico (Lima, Perú). Estudió un doctorado en ciencia política en la Universidad de Montreal y fue investigador post-doctoral en la Universidad de Harvard. Verónica Garibotto veronica_garibotto Verónica Garibotto received her "Licenciatura en Letras" from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and her MA and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining KU, she taught at Queen's University in Canada. Her research addresses the links among culture (literature and film), history, and politics in 19th to 21st-century Latin America, especially in the Southern Cone. She is particularly interested in how historicity and ideology intersect with culture and in theoretical perspectives that combine a close textual analysis with a broader political reading.

Ha participado en distintos proyectos de investigación con el Banco Mundial, el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, la Presidencia de la República de México, y el Wilson Center.
