A Crise Política no Brasil

De uma forma bastante resumida podemos dizer que a crise política do Brasil teve início com as manifestações de junho de 2013  e culmina com a deposição da Presidenta Dilma Rousseff em agosto de 2016.

Em relação ao impeachment, não é a primeira vez na história da democracia brasileira que passamos por um processo dessa natureza. Esse tipo de intervenção está previsto na nossa Constituição e, por si só, não representa uma interrupção institucional na nossa democracia.

This article fills the vacuum in the academic literature by showing how ideological and public opinion factors, which were largely ignored in previous works on regulatory governance, can integrate institutional models in explaining the renationalization process that occurred in Argentina between 2005 and 2013.

Why the Waiting Game in Guantánamo?

On Wednesday in response to a UN vote denouncing the embargo placed on Cuba by Congress the US abstained for the first time in 25 years.  While this is a small nod by the US in recognition of the futility of the embargo, Congress is still opposed to lifting trade constraints until Cuba does more to improve human rights (Borger 2016).
